Vintage Friends

The Goose-yard Block was planted to Shiraz in 1996 and first harvested in 2000. In the same year Steve and Cecilia Schubert made a small batch of wine, for friends and family to enjoy, and established an annual vintage tradition. Friends and family came to help hand-pick the fruit from first eight rows of Goose-yard Block and crush the fruit. They work hard, turning the small hand crusher, but at the end of the task everyone enjoys a long leisurely lunch. For 2008 & 2009 the Vintage Days have been redesigned to include importers who have sent their staff & VIPs to come and enjoy a fun day or two amongst the vines.

Steve and Cecilia Schubert

Since 2000, and following vintages, Steve succeeded in creating a stellar wine and in appreciation to those who helped pick and crush the grapes, we would like to thank all those involved. Thank you. For Vintage 2000 to 2006 Scroll down to meet our Vintage Friends-

Ron Sinclair, Margaret Trueman, Amanda, Susan and Peter Robinson, Beck and Andrew Jordan, Siem, Inneke and Jeroen, John McDonnell and Elizabeth Warhurst, Yancey Limpus

When James Halliday wrote about the Goose-yard Block 2002 vintage Andrew and Beck Jordan happened to be in the Barossa on holiday, they read Halliday's article, rang us and became one of Schubert Estate's earliests mail order customers. That's Andrew (checked shirt) in the picture left-above (seated right and Beck next to him). We've (Schubert Estate) grown a little over the last couple of years - in many ways and (we hope) for the better. Andrew Jordan (Also read about Andrew's day working Vintage 2006 on the Auswine Forum )
